About Us

Hong Kong City Church is a community of ordinary people who desire to follow Jesus by obeying the Word of God and walking daily in the leading of the Holy Spirit, so that people in our spheres of influence may be introduced to an intimate relationship with God, grow in their identity in Christ, and learn how to influence others for God’s Kingdom.

Transform: Entering the Promised Land
Series: Transform
The Lord has called us as His church to proclaim the Gospel, offer eternal life to those who will believe in Him, and to restore the broken hearted. In short, we are called to bring God’s transforming power into this world, one life at a time. This is the purpose for which the church exists; it is the “promised land” that the Lord is bringing us into. But, to inherit the promised land the Lord is giving us, we will first have to get through the wilderness, and then overcome the giants that are in the Land. All this is only possible as we walk in close, intimate relationship with our heavenly Father.

Love Letters: To the Church in Hong Kong
    Series: Love Letters
One day Jesus asked His disciples a vital question to which every person must give an answer: “Who do you say that I am?” The way we answer this question determines everything about who we are and how we live our lives, both now in this life, and in the life to come. Peter’s answer to Jesus, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God” was so profound and foundational that Jesus promised to establish His ekklesia upon it, and that the “gates of Hades (hell)” would not prevail against it. Each of us must also answer that question in our lives – “Who do I say that Jesus is?” And, our answer may well determine whether we are part of the church Jesus is building, or a part of the church that will “fall-away” in the last days.

Love Letters: Hot or Cold? The Choice is Yours!
    Series: Love Letters
Most people like to eat food and drink drinks that are either hot or cold. If a dish is supposed to be hot, we want it served hot otherwise we send it back to the kitchen. If it is supposed to be cold, we want it cold. It seems that most of us have a dislike for food or drink that is lukewarm. Interestingly, Jesus too dislikes lukewarm things, especially when it comes to our spiritual passion. In His seventh love letter to His church Jesus rebukes Christians who were lukewarm and urges them to be “earnest and repent”. He wants them to be hot for Him.

    Love Letters: Wait Patiently
    Series: Love Letters
When we stand before the Lord one day He will not ask us if we were successful in the eyes of the world; He will ask us if we were faithful to do the things that He called us to do. We have already visited churches that, in their own opinions were alive and successful, and yet the Lord said they were dead. Today we visit a church that was weak and seemingly insignificant in the eyes of the world, but they had one thing going for them: they had remained FAITHFUL to the Lord. They had kept His words and had not denied His name. They had learned to wait patiently for the Lord.

Love Letters: Wake up! Stay Alert!
    Series: Love Letters
Summary: Every army since ancient times until today has used the basic military tactic of placing guards at night (and sometimes during the day) to keep watch. This is a vital assignment because the safety and defence of the camp, including all of the personnel and military assets within, depends on it. Any violation of duty – especially falling asleep – is a serious offense and severely punishable. In His love letter to the church in Sardis, Jesus is attempting to wake up that church because it had fallen asleep spiritually. It had been lulled by a false sense of security and was almost dead according to Jesus, even though it had a reputation of being alive.

Love Letters: Do Not Tolerate Evil
    Series: Love Letters

Peer pressure; the temptation to compromise your beliefs in order to get ahead in your career. These are things that all of us have to face and overcome in life, and they are essentially the issue that the church in Thyatira was dealing with. This church was strong in love but they tolerated false teachers in their midst. This, in turn, led them to live a compromised lifestyle with one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom of God. Unfortunately many in the church today still try to live this way. Jesus says to these, “Repent! Have nothing to do with Evil, and live your life whole-heartedly for God.”

Love Letters: Stand Firm on God’s Word
    Series: Love Letters
In His third love letter to His church, the letter to the church in Pergamum, Jesus is emphasizing the importance of standing firm on God’s Word. Pergamum was a very pagan city, boasting altars and temples to many pagan gods of that time. Jesus went so far as to call it “the city where Satan lives” because “the throne of Satan” was located there. Even thought this was Satan’s city, those who followed Jesus had remained faithful to His name and had not renounced their faith even to the point of death. There were, however, some among them who were embracing false teaching. To these Jesus warns that they must repent and return to standing firm on God’s Word.
